Mark Lowndes
Posted in What We Do on Thu, 15th March 2012.
We are proud to welcome talented singer-songwriter Mark Lowndes to the Ishlab family.
Think
Jack Johnson meets Stevie Wonder and what do you get? Brisbane born and
bred vocalist Mark Lowndes definitely should come to mind. Described by
those lucky enough to have seen him perform as an evocative songwriter
with captivating vocals, the self proclaimed optimist sees his talent as
a tool to put multiculturalism and community on the map. His underlying
messages thread through his strong and free spirited compositions with music being the root of his expression.
Mark’s ability to draw and apprehend his audience with his clever
lyrics was rewarded ‘Acoustic in the Park’ winner in 2006. In 2007, the
acoustic soul artist was voted runner up for Brisbane’s FRETFEST find of
the year breaking boundaries with his originality and individualism. In
late 2008, Mark released his self titled EP which has been a growing
success both locally and internationally. The six tracks EP displays RnB
and reggae influences in each track through beautiful yet strong
melodic tunes. Ben Preece of “Time Off” magazine could write nothing but
positive words on the artist which soon led to a music video for his
debut single, Butterfly in early 2009.

The Lo Frequency
Posted in What We Do on Thu, 15th December 2011.
Formerly known as 'Chen Lo and the Liberation Family', this band performs music in a variety of styles – jazz, blues, R&B, soul, pop, rock & roll and Afro-beat. They first caught our ear with their inspiring hip-hop tracks. They are the real deal – they have much to say and they say it with eloquence and style. Chen Lo, the back bone of the group, is an artist, humanitarian and entrepreneur. The band started gathering steam in 2010 when were chosen to be part of the Rhythm Road Tour (a Jazz at the Lincoln Center project), performing all over the Middle East. We’re very proud to have these talented, socially conscious artists join our Ishlab family. Check out The Lo Frequency’s music here: http://www.myspace.com/chenlo. Demarco Electronic Project
Posted in What We Do on Thu, 15th December 2011.
What happens when you blend Deep House with Tech House and add a drop of chillout? We didn’t know either until we heard the music the Demarco Electronic Project. Out of sunny Buenos Aires, Argentina, come twin brothers Hector and Luis Aguero, the powerful DJ and musician duo behind Demarco. We’re amazed at how hard these guys work – in the last 3 years, they’ve put out two records, 6 E.P.s and a compilation album all while collaborating with artists and DJs from all over the world. Their music comes in all sorts of different flavors, all delicious and refreshing, and we’re working hard to place their tracks. If you’re into eclectic, classy house music, find your happy place here: http://www.myspace.com/demarcoep/music.
Emanuel And The Fear

Emanuel And The Fear are experiencing great success and are making a name for themselves worldwide. This past year, Ishlab helped place their track "The Rain Becomes The Clouds" on ABC's summer show 'Huge'.
Emanuel And The Fear is a Brooklyn-based, ten-piece orchestra band. Their music has been described as a “romantically poppy sound,” punctuated with electronic pulses and deeply felt lyrics. Their style is not just unique and original, but fresh and clear. Their brilliant approach to the modern rock band consistently captures the audience with beautifully, intricate scores laced with eloquent, quivering vocals.
Winslow Bright
Posted in What We Do on Tue, 1st November 2011.
Winslow Bright is a pop-singer. When you look at her picture, do you imagine she must sing some sugary teeny-bopper crap? She doesn’t. The singer-songwriter from Dallas writes airy, pop-flavored country music and her singing is sweet, yet mature. There’s something old-fashioned about Winslow’s style; we give her props for pulling off the 60’s vibe. The singer says it best herself: ‘There’s more to a heart, there’s more to a mind than a birthdate they’ve been assigned”. Check out her songs: http://www.myspace.com/winslowbright.
Brian Mackey
Posted in What We Do on Tue, 1st November 2011.
We’re really pleased to welcome artist Brian Mackey to the ishlab family. Brian writes catchy, acoustic rockn’roll and introduces himself to fans as poor white trash from Florida. Nevertheless, his songs have a romantic quality and you don’t have to ignore the lyrics to enjoy them. The guy’s got love songs, road songs even a song about how much Florida sucks so it’s fair to say he’s got a solid singer-songwriter rep. We like his songs, give them a listen. http://www.reverbnation.com/brianmackey.
